Leadership Expectations

Important Items To Remember

When Teaching And Leading Others

       Foundational

            Be Biblical

            Be Wise

            Be an Example

            Be Service-Oriented

            Be Growing

  • Be Biblical

You are to be extremely knowledgeable in the Scriptures, a student of the Word, who consistently lives out Biblical principles, teaches them, uses them in conversation with others, and integrates all instruction into them.

  • Be Wise

You are to effectively translate Biblical principles into thought, word, and deed, reflecting an inner work of grace that seasons all that you are in teaching, counseling, relating and deciding.

  • Be an Example

You are to be a living embodiment of Jesus Christ who lives within you, setting the standard for peers, parents and students.  You are to be a prototype, building a system so that if others copied it they would be highly successful in life.

  • Be Service-Oriented

You are to assist parents in their parenting, placing their needs and interests at the forefront.  You are to faithfully carry out the service-oriented system established for the entire church staff and thus be an effective PR agent for the church both locally and globally.

  • Be Growing

You are to be expanding, improving and advancing as a Christian and as a leader.  Each year you should be characterized by your study, research, pursuit of advanced training, prayer and goal-setting for your own growth.

            Instructional

            Be Present

            Be Punctual

            Be Prepared

            Be Productive

            Be Proficient

            Be Trustworthy

  • Be Present

Your presence at Worship, in Learning Centers, at meetings and other gatherings that are part of your specific ministry require your presence 100% of the time.  Substitutes and fill-ins are much less effective.  Your presence encourages and stimulates others - both adults and children.

  • Be Punctual

Being on time and ready to go for each meeting, appointment or service marks you out as a prototype and an example.  Tardiness discourages others, demonstrates pridefulness (I'll make others wait for me) and displays a lack of self-discipline.

  • Be Prepared

Great leaders and role models are always thoroughly prepared.  Godly leaders are so for the glory of God.  Anything less is not worthy of the Lord, our families, or those who look to us as examples.

  • Be Productive

Result-oriented teaching and living is Biblical and gives us standards by which to be measured.  Time can never be bought back.  The Scriptures tell us that we are to "redeem the time".  Each minute is to be effectively and efficiently used.

  • Be Proficient

Determine to be the best at what you do.  Be a prototypical leader, teacher and Christian adult for God's glory.  Be expert, excellent and on top of your field.  Nothing less is worthy of the Lord's calling on your life.

  • Be Trustworthy

You are to be consistently dependable, faithful and loyal to Biblical principles and to doing your tasks well, whether others are present and watching or not.  You are to fulfill Biblical principles on behalf of those who serve over, with and under you.  You are always to protect the name, welfare and reputation of others, whether they are present or not.

            Relational

            Be an Evangelist

            Be a Discipler

            Be Stimulating

            Be Sensitive/Caring

            Be Consistent

            Be in Charge

  • Be an Evangelist

Prov. 11:30 says "He who wins souls is wise."  You are to be vigilantly concerned for the eternal welfare of each of those placed under your care and tutelage.  You should make yourself available to be trained and participate in evangelism training at the church, seeking every opportunity to cogently speak to others about salvation.  Each year you should target specific individuals as a goal you set before the Lord's throne.

  • Be a Discipler

You should reproduce yourselves in the lives of several disciples who you specifically select each year.  You should be endeavoring to disciple them in-depth in the path of righteousness through one-on-one conversation, Bible study, shepherding and prayer.  Have in mind the goal that they will soon do likewise.

  • Be Stimulating

Are you enthused about what the Lord has given you to do?  Do you believe in its importance?  Are you fresh, innovative and creative?  Are students and disciples excited about you, your teaching, and your life, and want to become like you?

  • Be Sensitive and Caring

You are to consistently live out the command "Be completely humble and gentle.  Be patient, bearing with one another in love...Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving one another, even as God in Christ has forgiven you...Carry each other's burdens...Be quick to listen, slow to speak" (Eph. 4:1,32; Gal. 6:2; Phil. 2:4; Js. 1:19).

  • Be Consistent

You are to be steady in good times and bad, free from mood swings, treating all persons without real or perceived favoritism, applying the rules of the Bible, the church and the denomination evenly and consistently and without wavering.

  • Be in Charge

You are to exercise the wise authority of Christ who called you in all situations to act responsibly, whether others have been directly assigned to you or not.  Those under your influence should also be in control and under your control.  Your person and your words should be obeyed.  No one else can take your place.
